2024 Candidate for the Utah House of Representatives for District 33
My story is probably much like some of your stories. I come from humble beginnings. Born to loving parents, struggling to make ends meet and provide for their children. Mom suffered from health issues and Dad often worked two jobs. Together with 3 siblings, I learned to be pretty independent. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I graduated from Highland High School and, thanks to employer benefits, I am a graduate of Westminster College.
I have strong ancestral ties to the Salt Lake Valley through many Mormon Pioneer settlers including my Great-Great-Great grandfather Heber C. Kimball, first counselor to the LDS Prophet Brigham Young. I mention this because I am probably related to most of you - as Heber had 45 wives and 65 children.
I have enjoyed a long, successful career in business. I have worked in regulated and non-regulated, for-profit and non-profit organizations, large corporations and small family organizations. I have learned that there are many ways to be right, many ways to achieve a goal, and that we must listen to each other to find common ground in order to move forward.
I served as a member of the Executive Board of the Heber C. Kimball Family Association for several years. I served as Treasurer and then President of the Salt Lake City Chapter of National Charity League. This organization teaches Service and Leadership skills for mothers and their teenage daughters. I volunteered with the American Red Cross for the past 3 years. When a home fire, or other local disaster hits, the Red Cross responds. The duty officer, my assignment, coordinates that response. Also, I have deployed and served on several large-scale national disasters across the United States. I have served in the Salt Lake County Republican Party as Precinct Secretary/Treasurer, Precinct Chair, State and County Delegate, and as Legislative House Chair for District 33, overseeing 30 Caucus Precincts.
Now, as a mother and grandmother – my favorite job! – I am running for the House of Representatives. I want to be an example to my family and to my community – we need Service Politicians, not career politicians. We need listeners and problem solvers, not haters and name-callers. I have years of experience in problem solving and getting things done.
Each of us has the right to:
· Speak and worship freely, and protect our family and property.
· Decide on our healthcare provider, whether or not to get vaccinations etc.
· Purchase a gas stove, drive a gas-powered vehicle or not.
I aim to reduce government involvement in our daily lives.
Local representatives should determine how our land is utilized whether recreation, development, farming, fracking and MORE. Utah should have the choice to endorse or not endorse Federal “Green initiatives.”
It is important to protect them by ensuring safety and a healthy social environment, providing a robust education in the basics and in civics, and instilling a sense of pride and love for our country. I am dedicated to protecting parent rights, advocating for school choice, backing law enforcement and championing FAMILY VALUES.
